Post challenge notification: Please note that the Fast Fiction Challenge 2010 has now ceased. No further challenges, please.
Well, as will come as no surprise to regular readers, I started answering fast fiction challenges again, as part of the Thirty Days Project.
I'm enjoying writing them, and you've at least another 19 of them coming your way before the end of June. (Click on the tag below to see all posts/stories for this year's challenge.) But if I get the challenges, let's see how long we can carry on for.
As you'll have seen, I've done this now for several years, and gotten some superb challenges and hopefully you've got some equally superb stories. I've still got five (*now all completed, working through new challenges) to complete from the most recent set of challenges:
Why Is It Orange?; hover -But I need more...2zen2 - Done
Keep Calm; interrogation - @_irene_adler - Done
Why a Duck?; chupacabra -kmp50 - Done
The King of Kings; pedigree - Phil Barnett - Done
Demonic Persuasions: Inhuman Acts; gourmand -hylandsdeath - Done
A reminder of the challenge:
Reply with a title (maximum of four words) about which you'd like me to write a fast fiction of exactly 200 words, together with a single word you want me to include in the text of the tale.
(Completely daft suggestions will be ignored, so no suggestions of "antidisestablishmentarianism" along with a title of "sex lives of cornflakes".)
OK, go.
Couple of points:
(1) Please remember that it's a maximum of four words in the title; you can use one, two three or four; one of the earliest challenges merely gave me the single word "cold" to use as the title and the word. (Thanks
(2) Please remember that if you're not on Livejournal, I have no idea who's given me the challenge unless you identify yourself. If you're coming here from Twitter or Facebook, please give me your Twitter ID/Facebook ID so I can let you know when I've written your story, i.e. answered your challenge.
Didn't expect me not to plug the book, did you? The Fast Fiction Challenge has now been collected in print and can be purchased through lulu.com and, if you're in the US, via Amazon.com here.
180 of the best stories from the first three years.
The more challenges I get, the more stories you'll get, folks. Feel free to hype this to anyone and everyone on Twitter, blogs, mailing lists, emails, whatever. Non LJ members can either post the suggestions using LJ's "anonymous post" thing (but please ask them to remember to identify themselves so I can let them know it's been done!) or email me on budgie @ hypotheticals dot co dot uk.
A reminder of the challenge itself: maximum of four words in the title, and one word to use in the story.
